Ice Claws

Also known as ‘ice picks’ or ‘self-rescue claws’, Ice Claws are the single most important piece of safety gear you can carry. They help you quickly and easily self-rescue in about 95% of all situations if you find yourself unexpectedly in the water. I’ve only had to use them once, but they were a lifesaver. I was in the water up to my neck, but within 5 seconds I was back up on top of the ice, and my clothes weren’t even wet all the way through.
How to use them? Read the instructions on the right and commit them to memory. If you take an unplanned swim, using your Ice Claws should be an instinctive reaction, not something you ever have to think about.
